In the western part of the world, north of the English Channel
Lies an island where money shouldn't be an issue
But as I write this poem my blood it rages gauges
As I find myself struggling to keep my head above water
People want their pound of flesh, they want it they want it now
I can't give them what I don't have but I get there in the end
But when the shoe is on the other foot you can be sure they
will take their time
I can take it or leave it but I sure hell don't accept it
And their wondering why I talk with so much venom
Telling all their folks that they are sure that I am crazy
And the littlest things will amuse their tiny minds
And they call these people heroes but my existence a lie
I'm a saint, I'm a sinner, but I'm definitely not a dreamer
What you see isn't what you get. I work hard like everyone else
But it's hard to live your life like an albatross round your neck
When you're perceived to be a certain way, you ain't got no chance
Low income, pushed down the ladder, human rights they don't exist
Life's no joke when they lie to you. We're in this together
When you get out of your mind, I know that they'll be waiting
To push you back in your shell whether they mean it or not
